Ingredients for Pepper and Onion Sausage Strata:
- 12 slice wheat bread cubed.
- 1 lb bulk pork sausage.
- 1/2 cup each of diced pepper and onion.
- 1 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese.
- 7 eggs beaten.
- 1 cup milk.
- 1 cup half and half.
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce.
- 1/2 tsp each of salt and pepper.
Step by step how to cook Pepper and Onion Sausage Strata:
- In a skillet cook sausage, peppers and onion together.....drain of all fat and let cool..
- In a greased 13 x 9 in pan place bread cubes..
- Place cooled sausage mixture on top then sprinkle cheese evenly..
- Add milk and half and half to beaten eggs with Worcestershire, salt and pepper. Mix well.. pour over other ingredients and press down well making sure all bread gets wet..
- Refrigerate overnight or at least 4 hrs. Remove from refrigerator 30 min before baking..
- Bake uncovered at 350 for 35-45 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean..
