Ingredients for Pepper and Onion Sausage Strata:

  1. 12 slice wheat bread cubed.
  2. 1 lb bulk pork sausage.
  3. 1/2 cup each of diced pepper and onion.
  4. 1 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese.
  5. 7 eggs beaten.
  6. 1 cup milk.
  7. 1 cup half and half.
  8. 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce.
  9. 1/2 tsp each of salt and pepper.

Step by step how to cook Pepper and Onion Sausage Strata:

  1. In a skillet cook sausage, peppers and onion together.....drain of all fat and let cool..
  2. In a greased 13 x 9 in pan place bread cubes..
  3. Place cooled sausage mixture on top then sprinkle cheese evenly..
  4. Add milk and half and half to beaten eggs with Worcestershire, salt and pepper. Mix well.. pour over other ingredients and press down well making sure all bread gets wet..
  5. Refrigerate overnight or at least 4 hrs. Remove from refrigerator 30 min before baking..
  6. Bake uncovered at 350 for 35-45 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean..
